Level 1 Minimal Sedation; safe and most conservative form of sedation used in dentistry.
Allows the use of:
Enteral (oral) minimal sedation — a small dose of medication taken by mouth to help you relax.
Combined inhalation–enteral minimal sedation — oral medication paired with nitrous oxide (“laughing gas”) for enhanced comfort.
With minimal sedation, you remain awake, able to breathe on your own, and able to respond normally to verbal commands throughout the procedure. This technique is ideal for anxious patients, those with strong gag reflexes, or anyone who wants a more relaxed dental experience while staying fully conscious.
